I found it significant that the only reason the Americas were found was simply that the Brtish Empire wanted to be part of the Indian Ocean trade just to gain more wealth, which in my opinion the British were not missing out on anything. Another thing I found interesting that most of the native population in the Americas was not murdered like most people think but they actually died by the diseases that were brought over not how people typically think that they were just brutally murdered. One thing I learned was that that they used the indigenous people as slaves first then later brought African slaves. I like that Strayer really highlighted the fact that the British didn't come to the Americas with the mindset of genocide or initially killing once they landed in Americas.
