In this chapter, the Slave trade is mainly discussed. Strayer explains how African slaves were purchased from tribes or captured in Africa and put on ship brought back to America. Once arriving in America they put up for sale in which they were bought mainly by plantation Owners to due hard labor, African women were sold sometimes sadly just for sex than rather labor work. Slavery in America became a racial issue in which they believed African people were made to do the slave work. Note not all everyone on the Slaves ships was purchased or captured from Africa some people were indentured servants meaning they voluntarily made an agreement with someone overseas to do labor work in exchange for their voyage to the Americas, these agreements will usually last for an average of seven years, then the servant would be free.
