Europe was selling opium to China in which many Chinese people became highly addictive to causing many social and economic issues, this began the Opium War. The Opium war was Chinese resistance against European imperialism. Although Chinese did victimize themselves for interacting with Europeans, they were successful in limiting trade with Europe but later caused their failure for relying on them due to accommodating their bureaucracy to impoverishment and the huge population of citizens. China suffered economically causing many deaths of their citizen due to starvations and lack of natural resources.
